Award winning theatrical quartet from Ukraine whose folk melodies and rhythms create unforgettable music that is at once sacred and modern.

For the past seven years, this award-winning, theatrical quartet of multi-instrumentalist singers has been experimenting with Ukrainian folk melodies and rhythms, mixing genuine, ethnically specific material with minimalism. Founded by former underground theatre performers, DakhaBrakha possesses an incredible stage presence that transcends its eclectic repertoire and instrumentation — which includes spacious vocals, accordion, bass drum, mouth harp and cello.

The band gradually layers a leisurely crawl with a bow on the cello, the tapping rhythms of nomadic tribes, the lyricism of the accordion and their beautiful melodies in polyphonic rural voices to create a large, ethno-jazz sound of absolute hypnotic persuasion.
